This shows how they plan on escaping from the general public of Dublin and getting away from school. They have an obligation to go to class that day, in any case, with them not being there they need to consider the reality of getting captured; there are decisions and outcomes throughout everyday life. Another way that the young men get away from society by method of their obligations is the point at which they read comic books in class.
